Background

The World Resources Institute and Ørsted have worked together to publish a new report on Unlocking a Renewable Energy Future: How Government Action Can Drive Private Investment.

The session will showcase findings on how, over the coming five years, national, subnational, and local governments can play a critical role in scaling clean energy capacity and providing regulatory frameworks and policy solutions to challenges that are slowing down private sector investment in clean energy. Barriers that limit clean energy deployment will be identified, alongside top priorities that governments will need to implement.

The findings and recommendations presented in this new report were developed through a review of literature, an expert convening, and expert interviews. The information presented also draws from the experience of Ørsted, which is the world's largest developer of offshore wind power and has set a goal of becoming carbon-neutral in its energy generation and operations by 2025 and in its entire carbon footprint by 2040.
