Call for Presentation Topics

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) are pleased to announce a Call for Presentation Topics for the Asia Clean Energy Forum 2013.The Forum is an annual event that brings together hundreds of policymakers, project developers, investors and technical experts from around the region for Asia’s premier event for clean energy technology, policy, programs, and financing.

This year, ACEF will take a fresh new approach to improve the effectiveness and outcomes of the week’s discussions. Unlike previous years, the 2013 ACEF will incorporate many of the previous side events into the main body of the Forum. This will allow for a more focused and condensed set of discussions on each of the main topic areas. The Forum will be structured to contain six thematic tracks, each with a Theme Chair responsible for developing the content and ensuring a clear set of messages from the theme. The final afternoon will be designed to have a report from each of the Theme Chairs, followed by a panel discussion on Asia’s clean energy priorities for 2014 and beyond.

The six Thematic Tracks are:

  • Policy and Regulatory Dialogue
  • Accelerating Energy Efficiency
  • Promoting Renewable Energy
  • Catalyzing Clean Energy Finance
  • Maximizing Energy Access
  • Emerging Clean Energy Technologies

The format of the Forum is a series of 90-minute sessions, during which officials, experts, and implementers make brief (10-12 minutes) presentations, followed by facilitated discussion.  In order to solicit a wide range of input for the Forum, the organizers are issuing this open Call for Presentation Topics across the region, and internationally.

  • The proposed topic should be related to an organization’s or an individual’s recent or current work in clean energy and it and must focus on concrete outcomes and achievements.[1]
  • The topic should be focused on one of the six Thematic Tracks listed above.
  • For each Thematic Track, we are seeking a range of presentations that cover the identification of specific barriers, how they were overcome, creative and innovative solutions, and tangible outcomes that can be scaled up.
  • A “Week at a Glance” overview of the Forum can be found here.
  • With the revised format this year, there are fewer presentation slots, and the selection is expected to be highly competitive.  Preference will be given to topics that meet the above criteria and also address the critical issue of how initiatives and activities can be scaled up across the region.
  • Presenters are responsible for their own airfare and accommodation to attend the Forum.  There is no general support fund for presenters to travel to and attend the Forum.

[1] In general, speculative topics, planned projects, or thought pieces will not be accepted unless they are empirical and based on implementation experience.

Submissions for "Call for Presentations" is now closed.
