HERA program

Heike Volkmer is an energy advisor with focus on biomass energy and cooking energy of the HERA program, Poverty-oriented Basic Energy Services of GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) since 2011. HERA provides concepts for enabling access to sustainable basic energy services for poor population groups. Furthermore, HERA functions as an interface and communication platform between GIZ basic energy services projects and numerous stakeholders at the international level.

Between 2008-2011, Heike Volkmer has been working in the Pamirs, Tajikistan. During her three years in Tajikistan, she supported the dissemination of energy efficient technologies, such as thermal insulation, energy-efficient heating and cooking stoves, for households in the high mountainous region. Moreover, Heike Volkmer has gathered work experience in Kazakhstan and Mongolia mainly in the field of natural resource management and combating desertification.
